United States President Donald Trump said the attack on Islamic State (ISIS) strongholds in Syria that he ordered was very successful. “We hit all targets perfectly and are restoring peace through force,” he said in a speech held on Friday night, the 19th, in North Carolina.

He reiterated that the attack was carried out in retaliation for the deaths of two US Army soldiers in a terrorist attack in the central part of the country last Saturday, the 13th. “We hit the ISIS bandits in Syria who were trying to regroup after their decimation by the Trump administration”, he added.

The Republican also once again credited himself with resolving wars, saying he had “created peace in the Middle East” based on the Gaza agreement and a supposed nuclear agreement with Iran.

Tariffs and pharmaceuticals

The president also said again that “tariff” was his favorite word and that he threatened to use them to obtain an agreement with large American pharmaceutical companies to reduce drug prices in the country, as he had already announced in a press conference at the White House

“We had prices that were 10 times higher than the prices they were charging in London and Paris and everywhere else,” he said, citing drops of up to 600% in drug prices through the new agreement.

According to Trump, the negotiation involved increases in the prices of medicines in European countries that, if they denied the adjustment, would be subject to tariffs on exporting all their products to the United States, he said, citing France as an example.

Legislative elections

As the 2026 legislative elections approach, Trump criticized Democrats and stated that “all states governed by Democrats are a failure.” During the speech, he called some allies to the stage, who praised his administration.
