Inspection also identified 865 beneficiaries who failed to comply with the conditions imposed by the Court
The Military Police arrested at least 17 detainees who benefited from the temporary release and committed crimes again in the state of São Paulo. The arrests took place between Tuesday (23) and this Sunday morning (28) and involve crimes such as attempted rape and murder, robbery and home robbery.
According to the PM, in addition to the arrests in the act, the inspection carried out throughout the territory of São Paulo identified 865 beneficiaries who failed to comply with the legal conditions of the “sadinha”, including breaking more than one rule. As a result, to date, 994 infractions have been recorded. Among the irregularities found are non-compliance with the stay in the municipality authorized by the Court, the absence of nighttime home confinement — between 7 pm and 6 am —, frequenting bars and nightclubs, consumption of alcohol or drugs and traveling to unauthorized locations.
One of the cases was registered in Indaiatuba, last Friday (26). An inmate, monitored by an electronic ankle monitor, stole a car and kidnapped an elderly man. The man was armed and forced the victim to make withdrawals from ATMs. Later, after a complaint, the elderly man was rescued in Sorocaba and the criminal was arrested in the act.
Another case occurred in Taubaté, on Saturday (27), when military police approached a beneficiary of temporary leave who was recognized by a victim for the crime of attempted rape. The man was taken to the region’s police station, where he remained at the disposal of the courts.
Still in Taubaté, on the same day, the Military Police arrested another suspect on the run after he tried to kill a person.
Furthermore, on the first and second days of the benefit, at least four men were arrested in the interior of São Paulo for domestic violence. One of them was arrested in Nova Odessa after going to a hospital to threaten his ex-partner. Another even threatened his girlfriend with a knife so that she would give him money to buy drugs in Pirangi.
According to the Military Police, inspection actions continue to be intensified throughout the state to ensure compliance with court orders and prevent new crimes during the period of temporary departure.
