Neymar, 33, renewed with Santos until the end of 2026. The previous contract expired this Wednesday (31). The new agreement came after weeks of negotiations. The information was first released by the GE portal.
Santos posted a video on his X account referring to the renewal. The official announcement should take place in the next few days.
The striker’s main focus, who is recovering from surgery on his left knee, is to be on Italian Carlo Ancelotti’s squad list for the 2026 World Cup.
It is the second time that the parties have extended Neymar’s contract, who arrived at Vila Belimiro at the beginning of 2025, initially for six months. The link was later extended until the end of 2025.
Although he had a year marred by injuries, Neymar was instrumental in avoiding Santos’ relegation in the Brazilian Championship. He scored 4 goals in the last 3 games of the competition.
The player, the team’s idol, returned to Santos in January, after almost 12 years – he had left the club, heading to Barcelona, Spain, in May 2013.
Playing alongside names like Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Andrés Iniesta and Xavi, he had a great performance in the Catalan team, where he stayed until 2017. In the middle of that year, he signed with Paris Saint-Germain, from France, in the most expensive transfer in the history of football (€222 million).
