The senator (PL/RJ) used his Instagram profile to share an image generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) that combines his face with that of his father, the former president Jair Bolsonaroaccompanied by the message “Happy 2026!”. The post, made at the beginning of the year, brings a message of hope and political affirmation at a time when Brazil is preparing for the presidential elections scheduled for October 2026. In the caption, Eduardo Bolsonaro’s brother wrote: “Let’s rescue our Brazil! May God bless us!”, in addition to publishing a video aimed at the public that follows him and cheers for his victory.

The publication attracted thousands of interactions and comments, including messages from followers who reinforced support for the family.

The image with Jair Bolsonaro’s face reinforces the alignment between father and son, even with the former president prevented from running due to court decisions and electoral disqualification. Bolsonaro has been in prison and serving a sentence since November 2025, after being convicted of an attempted coup d’état against democracy.

The use of the father figure at this time has strong electoral significance. Flávio Bolsonaro confirmed on social media that he was chosen by him as the Liberal Party (PL) candidate for the Presidency of the Republic in 2026, taking on the political project of Bolsonarism to face President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the polls.

Electoral surveys released in December 2025 show that, although President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) leads the voting simulations, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) appears in second place in first round scenarios and is technically tied with Lula in some second round simulations. According to a survey by Paraná Pesquisas, in a scenario with Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro in the second round, the current president would have 44.1% of voting intentions, against 41% for Flávio. In the first round, Lula received 37.6% and Flávio, 27.8% of the electorate’s preferences.
