St. Pölten/Neusiedl am See/Jennersdorf – The Lower Austrian fire brigades were challenged on New Year’s Eve. Between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. they had to go out on 130 missions, which is more than twice as many as in the previous year (2024/25: 59 times), the Lower Austrian State Fire Brigade Association announced on Thursday. A majority of the alerts concerned fires. More rescue missions were also recorded; eight people were injured by firecrackers.
