Electricity prices in the Iberian market reached their highest values in almost two years, pressured by the rise in natural gas prices.

Data from the Iberian market platform Omie cited by indicates that prices for this Friday remain high, with a slight relief to 145.29 euros per megawatt-hour.
These values reflect the trend observed in other European countries, such as Germany and France, where prices also roseinfluenced by seasonal winter demand and instability in the energy market.
The reference natural gas in Europe, the Dutch TTF, recently reached values of around 55 euros per megawatt-hour, the highest since October 2023. Despite milder weather forecasts, which could ease demand, Natural gas reserves in Europe are at 81%, below the 91% recorded in the same period last year and the average of the last five years (83%).
Experts highlight that the energy transition in Europe still faces significant challenges, including high one-time costs.
