Alcohol in Austria is 11 percent cheaper than the EU average

Berlin/Vienna – Beer, wine and spirits are cheap in Austria compared to other European countries. The prices for alcoholic beverages in retail were 11 percent below the average for the states of the European Union (EU) in October 2025, according to an evaluation by the German statistics office on the occasion of “Dry January”. Only in Italy and Germany were alcoholic drinks cheaper.
