Venezuelan plane arrives in Brazil this Friday to pick up medicines, says Padilha

The Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, announced that a Venezuelan plane will arrive in Brazil this Friday (9) to collect medical supplies, including dialysis material and medicines.

In total, the ministry will donate 100 tons of medical supplies to try to reduce the impact of the destruction of the largest medicine distribution center in Venezuela.

“This donation does not affect the structure and assistance of the approximately 170 thousand patients currently undergoing dialysis in the Unified Health System. We have safe stocks in Brazil and can be in solidarity with the neighboring country. We cannot forget that, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Venezuela provided us with 130 thousand cubic meters of oxygen for the treatment of our citizens, in the face of a crisis due to poor management by the past government”, highlighted Padilha.

The supplies being sent were donated from university and philanthropic hospitals across the country. The neighboring country will receive continuous use medications, filters, arterial and venous lines, catheters and solutions for hemodialysis treatment.

In a letter sent to the Venezuelan Minister of Health, Magaly Gutiérrez, Padilha reinforced the government’s support for guaranteeing health care for Venezuelans.

The 100 tons of donations will be stored at the Ministry of Health’s Input and Medicine Distribution Center, located in Guarulhos (SP), until they are fully dispatched.
