Portuguese family returns home after two years traveling around the world on a catamaran sailboat

The Lufinha family returned to Portugal this Sunday after completing a circumnavigation trip that lasted two years and four months. The arrival in Lisbon was marked on the Tagus River with the presence of dozens of boats that accompanied the catamaran from Bugio to Doca de Santo Amaro, to the applause of hundreds of people on land.

Francisco Lufinha, navigator and world record holder in kitesurfing, made this trip around the world accompanied by his wife, Margarida, and their two children, now aged five and seven. Along the way, the family lived entirely on board, gathering unusual experiences and memorable memories of a life spent at sea.

The reception included resources from the Navy, the Maritime Police and historic vessels, in a symbolic moment to mark the end of the trip. Despite the challenges and longing felt along the way, the family returns with the experience completed and now admits the possibility of new adventures in the future.
