FITUR Madrid, held between January 21st and 25th, had the participation of Albufeira, bringing together nine municipalities in the Algarve, in an innovative joint action, presented on a common stand, with the aim of promoting the Algarve destination in an integrated and articulated way.

The fair was attended by nine municipalities in the Algarve – Albufeira, Alcoutim, Aljezur, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Olhão, Portimão and Tavira – who presented at a common stand, with the aim of promoting the destination in an integrated and articulated way in the Iberian market.
Joint strategy for the Iberian market
According to the organization, participation in the event was based on “three fundamental strategic axes: the creation of a business platform, enhancing B2B meetings and internationalization opportunities; the integrated promotion of the destination, focusing on the multiple strengths of the Algarve; and the strengthening of the Algarve brand, through coordinated and networked action”.
The Albufeira delegation included the president of the City Council, Rui Cristina, the president of the Municipal Assembly, Luna Silva, the councilor for Tourism, Cristina Corado, and the president of APAL, Desidério Silva, accompanied by technical teams.
Featured regional companies and products
The Algarve stand included tastings of endogenous products and the presentation of innovative projects, highlighting the participation of five APAL associates – Luna, Highgate, Mirachoro, AlgarExperience and Seacret Tours – with their own counter, as well as the presence of dozens of companies in meetings with international operators and partners.
The organization also highlights the importance of the Spanish market for tourism in the Algarve and adds that a new promotional action is already planned in Spain, scheduled for February 12th, with the holding of a B2B initiative in Seville.
