The Supreme Court has endorsed the euthanasia of Noelia, the 24-year-old paraplegic whose father opposes her receiving aid-in-dying benefits. The magistrates have adopted this decision considering that the young woman is of legal age and has been authorized by the Evaluation Commission of Catalonia since 2024. In the Supreme Court they have concluded that Noelia’s father’s appeal manifestly lacks objective cassational interest for the formation of jurisprudence; That is to say, they have ruled out analyzing in depth the sentence handed down by the Catalan TSJ and have limited themselves to rejecting the complaint raised. There is no appeal against the decision of the high court, so the matter no longer has any further scope in what is called ordinary justice. You can only go before the Constitutional Court, but to allege that in the court process the fundamental right of the father, who is the one who has fought the case, has been violated.
