Trump reiterates that naval fleet goes to the Middle East and maintains pressure on agreement with Iran

US President Donald Trump once again stated that “there is a large fleet of American ships on their way to the Middle East”, reinforcing the strategy of military pressure while keeping the diplomatic route with Iran open.

The statement, made during a cabinet meeting this Thursday, comes one day after Trump raised the tone by announcing the sending of an armada led by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln to the region, warning that “time is running out” for Tehran to agree to negotiate a new nuclear agreement. At the time, the Republican also threatened a “much worse” military response in the event of diplomatic failure.

At the cabinet meeting, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated that Iran “has all the options” to reach a nuclear deal with Washington, signaling that the White House combines a show of force with a willingness to negotiate.

The speeches take place amidst a strong rhetorical escalation between the two countries. Iranian authorities have reiterated that they will respond immediately and comprehensively to any American military aggression, while claiming to be open to dialogue “based on mutual respect”, as long as there are no impositions.

In addition to the Iranian dossier, Trump once again pointed out that the US will begin offensives against drug trafficking that enters via land routes. In the domestic scenario, the Republican said he did not “want a drop” in property prices and promised to “boost the value of homes for current owners”.
