A 53-year-old man, on the run from Acre Justice for the crime of rape committed in 2015, was arrested this Friday (30) in the municipality of Iranduba, 27 kilometers from Manaus. The suspect had lived for years in the interior of Amazonas, where he worked as a bricklayer and farmer, trying to stay off the authorities’ radar. The information was released on D24Am.

The suspect’s name was on Interpol’s Red Diffusion list, an international cooperation mechanism used to locate wanted criminals in different countries.
According to delegate Raul Augusto Neto, responsible for the case, the information sent by the Acre police indicated that the fugitive could be hiding in the Iranduba region. Following this, teams from the Integrated Judicial Police District (DIPJ) and the 31st Interactive Police Station (DIP) began investigations.
The man was located in the Xiborena community, in the rural area of the municipality, where he led a discreet life and carried out informal activities. After his arrest, he was referred to legal proceedings and will be available to the courts to answer for the crime.
