Crispy boats with amazing filling. Biblical cookies for coffee and tea

Bible cookies This recipe makes classic, impressive-looking pastries in the shape of small boats. This combination of crispy dough with a fruity interior always tastes delicious, and this is also the case.

Dried figs, nuts and a citrus note combine perfectly in the filling, it is pleasantly sweet, but also refreshing.

Cake:

  • 170 g of butter,
  • 200 g sugar,
  • 400 g of wheat flour,
  • 2 tablespoons of corn starch,
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder,
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt,
  • 1 egg, size L or XL,
  • 1 egg yolk,
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract,
  • 4 tablespoons of orange juice.

Filling:

  • 120 g dried figs,
  • 100 g sugar,
  • 120 g walnuts or other favorite nuts,
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice,
  • 1 tablespoon of grated lemon peel.

Prepare the dough.

Sift flour, starch, powder and salt into a bowl.

In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy and light. Add the egg and mix thoroughly, then add the yolk.

Finally, add vanilla extract and orange extract.

Pour dry ingredients into wet ingredients and mix until combined. Finally, add orange juice.

Shape the dough into an elastic ball. Divide it into two parts and wrap each in foil. Put them in the fridge for about 2 hours.2Prepare the filling.

Transfer all filling ingredients to a food processor and blend them into a smooth paste. Assemble the cookies.

Roll out the cooled dough to a thickness of approx. 2-3 mm. Use a cutter to cut out circles with a diameter of approx. 8 cm and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of each circle.

Lightly moisten the edges of each circle with water. Pinch the edges of the circle in three places to form a boat. Press the folds firmly together to prevent them from opening during baking.

Put the tray in the fridge for about 15 minutes and then in the oven set to 190 degrees Celsius. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden.

Remove the baked goods and cool on the baking tray for 5 minutes.

Store the Biblical Fig Cookies with Nuts for up to a week in a tightly closed container.
