Jesus “made love” – phrase bothers Colombia

New portrait of Jesus Christ according to research by a British historian

Gustavo Petro said that a man like Jesus “could not exist without love” and that he made love, “perhaps with Mary Magdalene”.

Jesus never married, never had a partner, girlfriend, wife, never had sexual relations. This is what the Bible suggests, this is what has been indoctrinated for almost two thousand years.

But the president of Colombia has a different perspective on the same issue.

Gustavo Petro he said that a man like Jesus “could not exist without love” and that “he died surrounded by women who loved him, and there were many of them”.

According to the president of Colombia, Jesus “made love”, “perhaps with Mary Magdalene”.

In a predominantly Christian country, he highlights that this speech angered the clergy and left many Colombian Christians perplexed.

The Evangelical Confederation of Colombia reacted: Gustavo Petro’s statements “distort historical, biblical and theological truth”. The president of Colombia demonstrated a “lack of respect”. The country’s main Catholic group also called for “respect, non-interference and protection of people in their beliefs”.

The Episcopal Conference suggested that politicians should avoid making theological statements in public.

This Friday, Vicky Davila – candidate for president and opponent of Gustavo Perto – spoke at a “provocation” of the current president of Colombia.
