A service order signed in 2016 by the then command of the Public Security Police (PSP) is generating strong opposition among agents, who denounce the loss of dozens or even hundreds of hours of overtime work. not paid or compensated with rest. The situation, which affects police officers across the country, is described by several professionals as a form of “slave labor”.

At issue is Order No. 13/GDN/2016, signed by the then assistant to the National Director of the PSP, Magina da Silva, which changed the regime of credit hours and compensatory rest at the institution. Whenever an agent is obliged to work beyond normal hours, he is entitled to an equivalent period of rest, but this compensatory rest it is not automatic. The situation worsened in January this year, when the National Directorate of the PSP instructed division commanders to strictly apply the order and update the hours owed. There are agents who claim to have lost between 50 and 200 hours of work, carried out by superior imposition, without any financial compensation or rest.

The PSP National Directorate did not provide any clarification on the application of the order or on the agents’ complaints.
