The dry weather continues: dangerous phenomena must be expected in most of Slovakia!

Frost may form in most of Slovakia on Wednesday morning. In western Slovakia, fog must also be expected. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) issued first level warnings in this regard. He informed about it on the web.

  • SHMÚ has issued warnings against ice, fog and wind in most of Slovakia.
  • Frost is threatening especially in the Žilina, Prešov and Košice regions throughout the day.
  • Fog with reduced visibility is expected in western Slovakia until 12:00.
  • From 6:00 p.m., wind warnings are in effect in Bratislava and nearby regions.
  • There are wind warnings in the mountains of northern Slovakia until Thursday afternoon.

The frost warning applies in the entire Žilina, Prešov, Košice, Trenčín and Banskobystrica regions. Likewise in most of the Bratislava region and in the districts of Piešťany, Senica, Trnava, Zlaté Moravce and Levice. In the Banskobystricky, Košicky, Prešovský and Žilina regions it is issued throughout the day, in other places until 12:00 p.m.

Fog with visibility of 50 to 200 meters can form in most of the Bratislava region and in the districts of Senica and Trnava until 12:00 p.m.. “Reduced visibility poses a potential hazard to traffic activities,” pointed out SHMÚ.

At the same time, in western Slovakia, from 18:00, first-level wind warnings are in effect. In the Bratislava, Trenčín, Nitra and Trnava regions, the wind can reach an average speed of 45 kilometers per hour. In the north, mountain wind warnings are also in effect from 11 p.m. until Thursday (February 5) in the afternoon.
