The minister of the (Superior Court of Justice) Marco Buzzi is the target of representation at the (National Council of Justice) after a young woman claimed that he harassed her during the January holidays, on the beach in Balneário Camboriú (SC).
The information was anticipated by the portal and confirmed by Sheet. The victim is the daughter of a couple of lawyers, who were friends of the magistrate. The family was staying at his beach house.
In a statement, the minister stated that “he was surprised by the content of the insinuations published by a website, which do not correspond to the facts.” He also says that he repudiates “any and all conclusions that he committed an improper act.”
A representation against the magistrate has already been formalized at the National Justice Inspectorate, according to advisors, assistant judges, CNJ advisors and STJ ministers.
In a statement, the council confirmed that the case is in the internal affairs department and said that it was registered as sexual harassment and is being processed in secrecy, “as determined by Brazilian legislation.” “Such a measure is necessary to preserve the privacy and integrity of the victim, in addition to avoiding undue exposure and revictimization. The Internal Affairs Department took statements this morning as part of the process,” says the agency.
The STJ was also contacted, but has not yet commented.
According to the complaint, the young woman went to take a swim when the minister was already in the water. He would have tried to grab her. She reportedly let go and narrated the situation to her parents, who left the minister’s house and filed a police report.
Buzzi has been at the STJ since 2011, when he took office following a nomination by then president Dilma Rousseff (PT). The minister is part of the Fourth Panel, focused on private law conflicts.
The young woman’s mother is being represented by lawyer Daniel Bialski. In a statement, he stated that he expected rigor in the investigations.
“As a lawyer for the victim and his family, we inform you that at this moment the most important thing is to protect them, given the very serious act committed. We await rigor in the investigations and the respective outcome before the competent bodies”, he says, in the text.
According to him, on Thursday (5), a statement was scheduled at the police station where the police report on the case was registered, in São Paulo.
In Brasília, the young woman’s mother sought out ministers from the STJ in recent days. Upon learning of the case, Minister Mauro Campbell, national inspector of justice, sought contact with the mother. A commission of female court ministers also went to the president of the court, Herman Benjamin, to take action.
According to a member interviewed under reserve, the atmosphere among the judges is “terrible” and “indignant”.
