The BMO-T flamethrower combat vehicle is one of the rarest and, consequently, best protected by the Russian army. The military specialist has highlighted that his loss “confirms once again that “Not even the most protected Russian equipment can withstand modern warfare with drones and precision weapons.”

Oleksandr Kovalenko has indicated that, taking into account the information available, the Russian forces could today have a single operational BMO-T flamethrower combat vehicle or even none.

Almost unmatched armored protection

The BMO-T was used to transport flamethrower unitsone of the most dangerous. For this reason, the BMO-T outperforms most vehicles in regards to the armored protection.

Only the ‘Terminator-2’ BMPT vehicle has superior armor protection to that of the BMO-T. In fact, according to Kovalenko, both vehicles are based on the T-72 tank chassis.

Throughout the armed conflict in Ukraine, it is confirmed that at least three Russian BMO-T flamethrower combat vehicles have been destroyed and one has been captured by Ukrainian troops.
