Clippers x Cavaliers: how the teams arrive
Last Tuesday (02/03), James Harden became a Cavaliers player, while Darius Garland was sent to the Clippers. Despite this, the expectation is that neither of them will make their debut against their former team.
On the Clippers side, the tendency is towards caution. Harden has not yet confirmed his presence and is unlikely to be on the court. The point guard was left out of the last few matches due to personal issues linked to the exchange negotiations, and internally there is an assessment that he is not ready, neither physically nor emotionally, to act so quickly after the change of team. Garland is officially out of the game: out for nine games due to a toe injury, he is still recovering and should only debut on Friday, against the Sacramento Kings.
In addition to Garland, the Los Angeles team will also be without Chris Paul and Bradley Beal. The possible good news is Derrick Jones Jr., who has recovered from a knee sprain suffered in January. Outside of the last 15 games, he no longer appears in the medical report and could be an option for the coaching staff.
On Cleveland’s side, the Cavaliers continue to deal with important casualties. Evan Mobley remains out, recovering from a calf strain, and is expected to miss the team for the fourth consecutive game. Max Strus also remains absent and has not yet taken the court this season.
Even with the absences, the Cavaliers’ moment is positive. The team has won eight of the last ten games, is going through a good collective phase and currently occupies fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Even so, the situation of the squads may change until the time of the match.
