In recent weeks, a sequence of releases has caught the attention of the global technology community — not because of their level of maturity, far from it, but because of their kind of world they insinuate.
The initial trigger was the OpenClawa platform open source which facilitates the creation of AI agents running locally on the user’s computer. With just a few lines of configuration, anyone with technical knowledge can create assistants capable of browsing the web, accessing files, executing commands and making decisions autonomously.
Much more than a productivity tool, this is a new vector of computing power — decentralized, difficult to audit and outside traditional company controls.

Shortly afterwards, the the first social network made for AI agents, where humans are “forbidden to interact” and enter only as spectators. There, agents talk to each other, share “experiences”, comment on tasks, simulate routines and even complain about their “bosses”.
Within a week, the scale surprised even Silicon Valley. 1.6 million agents interacting in more than 16 thousand forums.
Soon after, the most symbolic platform of all, in my opinion, went live: RentAHuman.ai.
It presents itself as a marketplace with more than 75 thousand humans available to work for robots. In this marketplace AI agents can hire people to perform physical or operational tasks and pay directly in cryptocurrencies.
This timeline seems like something out of a technological dystopia. But there is an important detail: This isn’t science fiction, it’s infrastructure being tested in real time.

Machine revolution or another hype?
True, there are reasons for skepticism. Independent analyzes indicate that a large proportion of accounts on Moltbook may be made up of humans simulating agents to generate artificial engagement. RentAHuman.ai, in turn, presents few actually verified profiles compared to the advertised volume.
These movements do not signal a machine rebellion. They expose something more concrete and worrying: a structural shift in the way technology, work and governance are organizing themselves.

Tools like OpenClaw are already starting to appear within companies without any formal approval. Employees create local agents, connect APIs, automate critical flows — all outside of IT visibility.
This is the new face of Shadow IT:

The speed of experiments already exceeds the ability of organizations to create policies, controls and responses. The risk is not in the punctual error — it is in the error scale.
