Juliana Santiago, 41 years old, was a professor of Criminal Law at the Aparício Carvalho University Center (Fimca) and civil police clerkwhat it was stabbed to death by a student at Faculdade Metropolitana, in Porto Velho, Rondônia. The crime occurred last Friday (6).

After his death, Santiago was honored by a student on social media. The young woman said that the teacher was “inspiring and had a genuine love for what she did.”

The person responsible for the attack on the teacher was identified as João Júnior,. According to the Civil Police, the investigation into the case is already underway.

In a note, deputy Edevaldo Neves repudiated the violence in educational environments.

“I reaffirm my absolute repudiation of any form of violence and demand a rigorous investigation from the competent authorities,” he stated.

The Public Ministry of Rondônia also commented, ensuring that it will act in the investigation of the crime and mourning the death of the public servant.

“May Juliana’s memory be honored with justice for all,” he said in a statement.

The Aparício Carvalho University Center repudiated the student’s attitude and stated that it is providing all necessary assistance, in addition to collaborating with the competent authorities. The institution decreed three days of academic mourning.

“The Institution reaffirms its absolute repudiation of this crime and informs that measures are already being adopted”, stated the statement.

OAB mourns death of teacher

The Federal Council of the OAB expressed deep regret over the death of professor Juliana Matos de Lima Santiago. The institution said that the woman’s death “causes consternation and mobilizes Brazilian law, which pays tribute to her trajectory.”

Furthermore, the organization expressed solidarity with family, friends, professional colleagues, students and the academic community. The OAB of Rondônia also regretted the case and offered condolences.
