Silves is preparing to host the 10th edition of the Silves Capital da Laranja Exhibition, which takes place between the 13th and 15th of February, at Fissul – Parque de Feiras e Exdições de Silves, bringing together citrus fruit producers, local associations, regional entities and a diverse program.
According to the Municipality of Silves, the event once again establishes itself as a reference event in the municipality, bringing together citrus farming, gastronomy, culture and entertainment. The Exhibition is designed to value local producers and promote a strategic sector for the municipality’s economy.
Music and debate mark the program
During the three days of the event, the main stage hosts prominent names in Portuguese music, with performances by Raquel Tavares (13th), Matias Damásio (14th) and the group Bandidos do Cante (15th), who present themes widely recognized by the public.
The official inauguration is scheduled for February 13th, at 10:30 am, followed by the XXI Conference at 2:30 pm, in the Fissul auditorium.
According to the Municipality, this initiative aims to “give a voice to farmers and debate current topics of interest to this sector”, with emphasis on the Mercosur-EU Agreement, the Agro + Eficiente project, Água que Unite and the update of the Hydroagricultural Development of Silves, Lagoa and Portimão.
Orange is queen inside and outside Fissul
On Saturday, February 14th, the workshop “The Role of Simplification and Digitalization in the Life of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Companies” will be held, organized by the Municipality of Silves in partnership with CPPME, at 11:00, on stage 2 of Fissul.
Throughout the weekend, the public will be able to watch traditional music and dance shows, puppet shows, magic, children’s activities and the already emblematic Valentine’s March, in addition to tasting regional products, sweets, wines and crafts, always with the Silves orange highlighted.
In parallel, the 10th edition of the Weekend with Flavor of Orange is taking place on the city’s streets, with participating restaurants presenting creative menus inspired by this iconic product.
In a statement, the municipality highlights that the event “dedicates three days to the gastronomy of Silves oranges, highlighting the unique quality characteristics of the queen of the orchard and other citrus fruits produced in the municipality of Silves”.
In this edition, 17 restaurants in the municipality participate, which promise to present gastronomic proposals inspired by citrus flavors. The initiative includes the establishments Art’aska – Restaurante Bar and Wine Shop, Café Inglés, Churrasqueira Valdemar, Marisqueira Casa Velha, Marisqueira Rui, Mosaiko – Restaurante & Suites, Nova Mesquita, O Barradas, O Pina, O Segredo das Avós, Parsley & Thyme (Salsa & Tomilho), Pérola do Arade, Ponte Romana, Recanto dos Mouros, Sushi Love, Ú Monchiqueiro 1 and Ú Monchiqueiro 2.
According to the Municipality of Silves, “the varied menus, which have as their main ingredient the much-loved Silves orange, gain even more flavor washed down with a good Silves Wine, and complemented with delicious citrus desserts”.
During the Orange Flavor Weekend, customers who dine at participating restaurants will be able to win “one of three weekends, in three hotels in the municipality”, which will be drawn as part of the initiative.
To participate, explains the municipality, interested parties must “fill out the competition coupon, attach the invoice for the meal and place it in the tombola”. The draw will take place “on the afternoon of February 15th, at the 10th Mostra Silves Capital da Laranja”.

Valentine’s March combines sport and environment in Silves
Silves will also host another edition of the Valentine’s March, scheduled for February 15th, at 10:00, with a meeting point in the FISSUL outdoor space, announced the Municipality of Silves.
In a statement, the municipality states that the event has the certification seal “Regional Walking and Running Calendar 25/26”, awarded by the IPDJ, and presents “two routes, according to the physical preparation of the participants”.
According to the municipality, participants will be able to choose “a 5 km route, with a low level of difficulty, completely urban”, or “another 10 km route, with a medium/high level of difficulty, to be carried out in urban areas and mountains”. Both routes end at FISSUL.
Registration is open and can be done online, “until 5:00 pm on February 14th”, through the Municipality of Silves platform. It is also possible to register with the Sports sector, at Complexo das Piscinas Municipais de Silves, via telephone 282 440 270 or email .
According to the municipality, interested parties can also register “at the parish councils of the municipality”, where it will be possible to reserve a seat on buses provided by the municipality, with seats subject to limitations. Registration can also be made on the same day, on site, “up to half an hour before the start of the activity”.
Silves promotes the “Zero Waste 0 – environment 100” campaign
The Municipality of Silves recalls that it continues to promote the “Zero Waste 0 – environment 100” campaign, an initiative that aims to raise awareness among participants of “the need to reduce waste and reduce the environmental footprint”. In this context, it is requested that “each participant brings their own bottle/canteen so that, during the race, the organization can fill it”.
Organized by the Municipality of Silves and integrated into the 10th Silves Capital of Laranja Exhibition, the Valentine’s March is in partnership with the IPDJ – Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, the National Marching and Running Program, the National Plan for Ethics in Sports and the National Sports for All Program.
The initiative also has the support of the Silves School Group, the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Silves, the Silves Territorial Command of the GNR, the Pharmacy of the Associação de Socorros Mútuos João de Deus and several entities in the municipality’s agricultural sector.
Promoted by and with free entry, the Mostra Silves Capital da Laranja is one of the municipality’s anchor events, contributing to tourism promotion, economic development and the valorization of local resources.
