Russian authorities accuse Ukraine of being behind the assassination attempt, with the aim of sabotaging peace talks. One of those involved fled to Dubai after committing the crime.
Russian security forces have detained two suspects in the attempted assassination of General Vladimir Alexeyev, deputy head of Russian military intelligence services, Russian authorities announced this Sunday.
The two detainees are Russian citizensone of which was extradited from Dubai and one third suspect fled to Ukrainethe Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced today.
“The following Russian citizens were identified: Viktor Vasin, born in 1959, detained in Moscow, and Zinaida Serebritskaya, born in 1971, who fled to Ukraine”, declared the FSB in a press release, published on its internet portal.
O explained that the perpetrator of the crime fled to Dubai immediately after committing the attack.
“With the cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, Russian citizen Liubomir Korba, born in 1960, who committed the crime, was also detained in Dubai and handed over to the Russian authorities,” they added.
Korba, of Ukrainian origin, will have confessed his guiltaaccording to judicial sources cited by the Russian news agency TASS.
