The vice-president of the Republic and minister of Industry, Commerce and Services (Mdic), Geraldo Alckmin, declared this Sunday, 8th, during a speech at Scania’s Codema dealership, in Guarulhos (SP), that the Move Brasil program, created to finance trucks, will improve the country’s logistics and environment, with financing options at reduced interest rates.
Alckmin recalled that last year’s agricultural harvest grew 17% and that it will be necessary to transport the growing agribusiness production. Another point he mentioned was the predicted increase in foreign trade due to the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union.
The minister also stated that it is necessary to reduce interest rates to help with truck sales, but that, with the Move Brasil program, it was possible to reduce financing interest rates to 13% per year. “It’s just 0.99% interest per month”, he highlighted.
Opportunity with security!
Launched by the federal government this year, the Move Brasil program aims to encourage the renewal of the Brazilian truck fleet. The initiative offers financing with lower interest rates to self-employed and cooperative truck drivers, as well as road freight transport companies, for the purchase of vehicles that meet sustainability and local content criteria.
In total, the program offers R$10 billion in credit, including resources from the National Treasury and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), responsible for operating all Move Brasil credit lines.
The vice-president also stated that the program has no end date, but recalled that there is a ceiling of R$10 billion to be financed. “It doesn’t matter if it will last a few months or years, but there is a ceiling, and it is not under discussion at the moment,” he said.

Alckmin participated in a meeting with representatives from Scania and the metalworkers union this Sunday morning, the 8th, at the Cedema dealership, in Guarulhos, São Paulo.
The visit takes place one month after the official launch of the Move Brasil program. In this first month alone, R$1.3 billion in credit operations have already been approved for the purchase of new or pre-owned trucks in 532 cities in all regions of the country.
