Beware of showering too often at THIS age: The doctor has determined when it is risky!

For most people, showering is part of their daily morning routine, while others enjoy this activity after a hard day at work.. No matter what time you wash, it is essential to maintain good hygiene. But how often should you actually shower? you shouldn’t overdo it because you can do a lot more damage than you think.

  • Frequent showering can lead to drying of the skin.
  • The doctor says that most adults should shower once a day.
  • Elderly people over 65 need to wash every two to three days.

Showering often can harm you

Dr. Elizabeth Gordon Spratt pointed out that many people don’t know how often they should shower. “This is an important ritual for our body for several reasons. During a normal day, sweat, bacteria, dead skin cells and environmental pollutants accumulate on our skin, which washing helps to remove” said the expert.

Although many people think that washing more often is associated with better hygiene, this is not quite the case. According to the doctor, staying in the shower several times a day could cause problems for your skin. “If a person showers too often or uses hot water or soaps with strong cleaning ingredients, this can disrupt its natural protective barrier“, she noted.

The expert emphasized that the number of showers should depend on your age. “Most adults should shower once a day, but for older people this interval can be extended to two to three days. The reason is that people over 65 have drier skin and frequent bathing could lead to cracking. The maximum recommended number is two showers a day,” the doctor concluded.
