The Russian Foreign Minister stated that Moscow has no intention of attacking Russia, but declared that it is ready to respond militarily if attacked.
Speaking to the NTV television network, he argued that Russia has no interest in turning against EU member states, but warned of a “comprehensive military response” in the event of European aggression.
“If Europe suddenly carries out its threats to prepare for war against us and launch an attack on the Russian Federation, the president said: this is not a special military operation on our part. It will be a comprehensive military response by all available means, in accordance with the relevant doctrinal documents”Lavrov underlined.
At the same time, Lavrov stressed that the deployment of Western troops or military infrastructure in Ukraine would be perceived by Russia as direct foreign intervention. As he said, such a development would be considered a serious threat to Russian security and would be dealt with accordingly.
