Ghislaine Maxwell, the former girlfriend of the poor American financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, is willing to tell the American public “the unfiltered truth about what happened” if President Donald Trump grants her a pardon. This was announced on Monday by her lawyer, David Oscar Marcus, TASR writes, according to reports from the AP agency, The Guardian and NBC News.
- Ghislaine Maxwell seeks pardon from Trump in exchange for full resignation.
- She refused to testify before the House Oversight Committee.
- Maxwell’s lawyer says only she can tell the truth about the case.
- President Trump has not ruled out pardoning Maxwell in the future.
- Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for aiding and abetting the abuse of minors.
“If the American public really wants to hear the unfiltered truth about what happened, there is an easy way. Ms. Maxwell is prepared to speak fully and honestly if President Trump grants her a pardon.” wrote Marcus on the X social network.
On Monday, Maxwell refused to testify before the Oversight Committee of the US House of Representatives, which its chairman James Comer called “a big disappointment”. “We had a lot of questions about the crimes that she and Epstein committed, as well as questions about possible accomplices,” zoomed in.
According to Maxwell’s lawyer only his client can provide the public with a complete picture of what happened. “Some may not like what they hear, but the truth is important. For example, both President Trump and (former) President (Bill) Clinton are innocent of any wrongdoing. Only Mrs. Maxwell can explain why, and the public has the right to this explanation,” he added.
Trump has not yet publicly ruled out pardoning Maxwell. “I haven’t thought about it in months. Maybe I haven’t thought about it at all. I’m not talking about it. I’m not ruling it out.” announced in November.
Jeffrey Epstein’s ex-girlfriend is serving a 20-year sentence in prison from 2021 for helping secure underage girls for wealthy clients who subsequently abused them.
Epstein died in 2019 in a New York prison before his trial. The authorities called his death a suicide, but according to AFP, there have been many conspiracy theories about it, especially among Trump’s voting base.
A number of supporters of the current American president return to Epstein’s case for a long time and they blame the death of the financier on the political elites representing the shadow state (deep state) in the structures of the Democratic Party and in Hollywood. Trump himself is a former close friend of Epstein.
