Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Sani and Donald Trump talked together about the current tensions in the Persian Gulf. They emphasized strengthening security and supporting peaceful diplomatic solutions.
Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Sani and US President Donald Trump discussed de-escalation and security in the Persian Gulf in a telephone conversation. The emir’s office announced this on Wednesday. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.
In the conversation, Al Sani and Trump focused on “the current situation in the region and international efforts aimed at de-escalation and strengthening regional security and peace.” In addition, they also talked about “supporting diplomatic dreams aimed at resolving crises through dialogue and peaceful means.”
The call came after US and Iranian officials held talks in Oman last week on Friday. Trump said that these talks will continue. The talks came after repeated threats by the US president about US intervention in Iran, where security forces have violently suppressed mass protests and killed thousands of people.
