The one between the governor of (Republicans) and the senator (PL-RJ), previously scheduled for this Thursday (12), was postponed until after Carnival. According to the governor, the meeting will serve to discuss political strategy, support and the next steps in the 2026 elections.
The meeting will mark the first meeting between them since the one between the governor and the Bolsonaro clan about a month ago.
The statement was given at an event in (Grande SP) to announce R$80 million in infrastructure works in the municipality. Tarcísio highlighted the former president’s (PL) support for his political trajectory and stated: “Now we’re going to hold Flávio’s hand, we’re going with everything.”
Furthermore, the governor said he was working to elect two senators for São Paulo. One of the vacancies, according to him, has already been defined, with the name of his former secretary (PP), who he classified as “well positioned and consolidated”. The second candidacy, he stated, will be chosen based on voting intention surveys.
Tarcísio denied that there is a favorite for the second vacancy and stated that the composition will be built in dialogue with allied parties. “It is normal for parties to make demands for these vacancies. We will set up this group within a logic of harmony, with everyone motivated to win the elections”, he stated.
Regarding the legal dispute involving the (Program for Full Payment of State Debts), he said that São Paulo filed a lawsuit with the (Federal Supreme Court) after adhering to the new regime and being charged with previous rules. “I’m on one regime and they want to charge me for another. It doesn’t make any sense,” he said.
The governor also commented on the situation of Bolsonaro, who is imprisoned in the 19th Military Police Battalion of the DF, known as Papudinha, in . “The president is not healthy enough to be in the closed regime, he needs to be with his family to have the best possible assistance,” he said.
