Vienna – The reorganization of family reunification for refugees is causing unrest between the federal and state governments. Vienna’s Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) triggered the consultation mechanism in a letter to Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) because he feared significant additional costs for the city. The department head has now responded and emphasized that the states had already been accommodated. However, Karner promises further testing.
