São Brás de Alportel reinforces animal health and well-being

The Municipal Veterinary Office of São Brás de Alportel is in operation with a resident veterinarian, reinforcing the monitoring of companion animals and ensuring the continuity of the provision of animal health care, with services accessible to the population, within the scope of the legal powers of these municipal services.

Public service takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between 9:30 am and 2:00 pm. Tuesdays and Thursdays are reserved for external service, with actions on the ground, support for stray animals, inspections and other municipal interventions.

Available services and prices

The Office offers several services, including rabies vaccination (10 euros), microchip (1.00 euros), registration (2.00 euros) and free internal deworming.

Reminds him that, according to Decree-Law no. 116/98, “municipal veterinarians have the mission of protecting animal health and public health, also guaranteeing the food safety of products of animal origin”.

The diploma also states that among its functions are “carrying out inspections in places with animals or products of animal origin, issuing technical opinions on the conditions of these spaces, monitoring animal mortality and detecting serious diseases. It is also responsible for issuing official documents for the transport of animals, collaborating in vaccination and prevention campaigns, supporting censuses and studies on animals, as well as providing technical information linked to the area”.

Veterinarian Daniela Paquete began her duties at the beginning of September 2025, marking a new stage in strengthening the municipal response in the area of ​​animal health and welfare.
