Oil supplies to Slovakia via Družba are still not restored: What does the Ministry of Economy have to say?

Oil supplies to Slovakia via the Družba pipeline have not yet been restored, even though the state company Transpetrol, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Economy (MH) of the Slovak Republic, repeatedly received an updated schedule for their renewal from the Ukrainian partner. The situation regarding oil supplies to the region is therefore the subject of negotiations.

At the same time, the Department of the Economy intensively monitors the development of the situation and is in close contact with the companies Transpetrol and Slovnaft, as well as with other affected entities within the energy and crisis management of the state. The press department of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic informed about this on Tuesday.

“At the same time, the Minister of the Economy of the Slovak Republic Denisa Saková (Voice-SD) and the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó signed a joint letter addressed to the Croatian side with a call to enable deliveries of Russian oil through the Adria pipeline as one of the possible alternative routes,” the Ministry of Economy explained.

He reminded that on Monday (February 16) an extraordinary meeting of the commission for oil safety was held, which was called by the State Material Reserves Administration (ŠŠHR) of the Slovak Republic. The goal is to take preventive measures and ensure the readiness of the state for a smooth and stable supply of the Slovak market with oil products in the event of a longer outage of supplies via the Družba pipeline.

The Slovak Republic has, based on the determination of the SŠHR, adequate strategic reserves of oil and oil products for approximately 90 days, emphasized the ministry. “These stocks, in accordance with the applicable legislation, guarantee the country’s energy stability in the event of temporary supply failures. The Ministry of the Economy of the Slovak Republic is ready to support their release if necessary in order to ensure a smooth and stable supply of Slovak consumers,” the department announced. At the same time, he assured the public that the supply of the domestic market is not currently threatened.
