Academicos do Salgueiro closes Carnival with a tribute to Rosa Magalhães

Closing the Carnival of the Special group of Rio de Janeiro For the first time, this Tuesday (17), the Salgueiro Academics paid homage to carnival artist Rosa Magalhães, who died in July 2024.

The plot was developed by carnival artist Jorge Silveira, who arrived at the school during Carnival 2025, and by plot artist Leonardo Antan. Allan Barbosa and Ricardo Hessez are also part of the association’s creative team.

The Queen of Drums drew attention when she paraded wearing a pirate costume, on top of a platform that simulated a ship.

Before entering Avenida, Salgueiro was already drawing attention by releasing a statement stating that it fully trusted the calculation of scores carried out by the Independent League of Samba Schools in Rio de Janeiro.

The so-called “preventive note” generated repercussions and was seen by many as a hint amid the controversy surrounding the school’s response to the Beija-Flor de Nilópolis victory the previous year.
