Firefighters intervened in the fire at the National Institute for Autism in Prague, but despite a quick evacuation, one person inhaled fumes and died. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the police.
On Monday afternoon, Prague firefighters intervened on the premises of the Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital, where a fire broke out. One person died on the spot as a result of inhaling fumes. Firefighters said on social network X that the building of the National Autism Institute was on fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the police, writes a TASR reporter in Prague.
Firefighters reported on the intervention at 2:23 p.m., approximately ten minutes later they wrote on the X network that they had already extinguished the fire and were ventilating the smoky areas. They added that 16 people managed to evacuate the building before their arrival. They found one person on the spot who inhaled fumes.
Rescuers unsuccessfully tried to revive her. “Unfortunately, despite all the efforts of the on-site crews, the patient’s spontaneous circulation could not be restored and death was declared,” the Prague Medical Rescue Service reported without further details on the X network.
Firefighters specified that the equipment of the room in the building of the National Institute for Autism was on fire. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are not yet known.
