The US military destroyed a smuggling ship in the Caribbean. After the attack, three are dead, critics question the intervention

The U.S. military has destroyed another ship it suspected of smuggling drugs in the Caribbean, killing three people. The attacks continue despite doubts about their legality and the growing number of victims.

The Southern Command of the US Armed Forces (SOUTHCOM) announced on the X social network on Monday that it attacked another ship allegedly carrying narcotics in the Caribbean Sea, killing three people. TASR informs about it according to the reports of the AFP and Reuters agencies.

  • The US military attacked a ship suspected of drug smuggling.
  • Three people died in the attack in the Caribbean Sea.
  • Attacks on smuggling ships began in September under Trump.

According to SOUTHCOM, the vessel “navigated known drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was involved in drug activity.” The army published a video of the operation on the X network.

The fight against smugglers

Attacks on alleged smuggling vessels in the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean were launched by the administration of US President Donald Trump at the beginning of September. It claimed that they were drug smugglers without publishing any evidence. Critics therefore question the legality of the interventions.

According to the AFP agency, at least 150 people have already died in American attacks. The Trump administration insists it is at war with “narco-terrorists” in Latin America.
