Report identified warning signs in bettor behavior
Procon-SP pointed out in a survey released this Wednesday, 25th, that 39.7% of bettors became in debt after starting to use online gaming and betting sites, known as bets. The survey also indicates an increase in the value of bets: 30.1% of those interviewed said they spent, on average, more than R$1,000 per month.
The report identified warning signs in bettors’ behavior. More than half (56.6%) said they felt influenced by advertisements featuring celebrities. Furthermore, 52.4% said they had compromised a significant part of their income, even resorting to invested money or loans to continue betting.
“This is one of the most significant points compared to 2025 and reinforces the importance of continuous monitoring of this market and indicators on these consumer relations to protect citizens”, says the deputy director of Studies and Research at Procon-SP, Elaine da Cruz.
The data is part of the second edition of the agency’s behavioral research on the topic, carried out between December 4, 2025 and January 9, 2026, with 2,724 consumers.
