Opposition supports Lula’s son to extend CPMI – 02/26/2026 – Panel

The opposition bench at CPMI sees this as the key to forcing the commission to be extended.

“With this amount of data that we will receive, it is humanly impossible to complete the investigation in one month”, says senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE). “The extension is necessary to provide transparency to this issue, which is a requirement of the country today”, he states.

Whether or not to extend the commission became a . Oppositionists want an extension for at least 60 days. With this, the CPMI, which ends at the end of March, would continue until the end of May, at the gates of the electoral campaign. But there are requests for the deadline to be extended even further, by 90 and even 120 days.

The opposition saw the approval of the breach of confidentiality as a turning point in a commission in which it had been defeated, and wants to take advantage of the good moment.

The request was approved this Thursday (26) in a tumultuous session, which saw scenes of aggression between the government and the opposition.
