Friale says that March may have below-average rainfall and warns of a possible drop in temperature

Friale divulgou a previsão do tempo para março no Acre

Researcher Davi Friale published, on his website, the weather forecast for the month of March in Acre. The meteorologist classified next month as the wettest in the center and west of Acre, as in the micro-regions of Tarauacá and Cruzeiro do Sul.

“However, the rains are also intense in the east and south of Acre, that is, in the micro-regions of Rio Branco, Brasileia and Sena Madureira, being the third rainiest month of the year in this part of the state, with a small difference from the second rainiest month, which is January”, he says.

The researcher points out that, in general, the rains last 30 minutes and 2 hours, but on some days they can last up to 12 hours or more, “however, in this case, with low intensity. Storms, with lightning and winds, are rare in March, but when they do occur, they are associated with polar waves”, he states.

Friale also says that the current configurations of the atmosphere and oceans, observed this Saturday (28), indicate a tendency for rainfall to be slightly below average in March. “With a high probability of significant rainfall accumulated in a few hours, which could cause serious inconvenience to the population, such as flooding of streets and overflowing of streams and streams. As for larger rivers, alarming overflows should not occur in most parts of the state”, he wrote.

In March, incursions of polar air may occur, which may cause a slight drop in temperature. “Temperatures should be located, on average, within or slightly below climatological normality for March. In the second half of the month, there may be an incursion of a polar wave, reducing the temperature a little, mainly in the east and south of the state”, he said.

Friale highlights that March 21 marks the end of summer with the vertical passage of the Sun across the Earth’s equator, which will mean that day and night are of equal length across the planet.
