Lula travels with Pacheco to Juiz de Fora and needles Nikolas – 02/28/2026 – Politics

The president took, in his delegation to Juiz de Fora, this Saturday (28), the senator (PSD-MG), name that this year. Pacheco was the only politician without a position in the Executive to speak, following an invitation from Lula.

During the visit, the president flew over Juiz de Fora and Ubá, two cities in Minas Gerais in recent days, with fatal victims and homeless people.

The president also took advantage of the speech to poke fun at the deputy (PL-MG), who could be Pacheco’s eventual opponent representing Bolsonarism, without mentioning his name. Neither Pacheco nor Nikolas confirm that they will be candidates for the Minas Gerais government.

“I brought with me a special guest, who is comrade Pacheco,” said Lula, when introducing the senator as a member of his delegation, made up of ministers, the president of Caixa, responsible for paying housing benefits, and the first lady Janja da Silva.

In his speech, Lula promised to deal with the case of Juiz de Fora as well as that of Rio Grande do Sul, in 2024. The president mentioned actions such as aid to city halls and aid to entrepreneurs, in addition to credit for housing.

“I always say the following, for me it doesn’t matter what party the mayor is from, what team the mayor supports, what religion the mayor professes. What matters is the following, there was a problem in the city, there is a well-done project, the demand is true, we are going to help the mayors to recover the quality of life in this city”, stated the president.

Pacheco not only participated in the event alongside Lula but was invited by the president to speak.

“I wanted to ask comrade Pacheco, who was president of the National Congress and is now a senator, to talk about what Congress can do to help”, explained Lula.

Pacheco said that he was the president of the Senate when actions were taken to mitigate the tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul. He praised Lula, highlighting the population relevance of his home state: “The president of Caixa said that Minas is the recipient, as a state, of 10% to 15% of Caixa’s federal resources. Which is good, because Minas represents exactly 10% of Brazil’s population, 15% of the number of Brazilian municipalities, and I am happy that today it is the recipient of 100% of President Lula’s attention.”

Minas is the second most important electoral college in the country, behind only São Paulo, and is considered an important political battlefield as it is not identified with either PT or Bolsonarism.

The presidential delegation’s speeches were closed by Lula with an implicit mention of Nikolas, who is preparing a demonstration this Sunday (1st) in São Paulo against the government, calling for the impeachment of Lula and STF ministers. The deputy is very popular on social media.

“This year is the year of truth in this country. This is the year in which we will prove who lies and who doesn’t. This is the year in which we will prove who does and who doesn’t. We will prove that performing pyrotechnics via cell phones does not solve society’s problems. The citizen who keeps recording and making memes all the time, playing politics, we will unmask this year,” said Lula.
