- Only about a quarter of Americans support US attacks on Iran.
- As many as 56 percent of citizens say that Trump uses the military too much.
- About 43 percent of respondents reject the American attacks, 29 percent remain undecided.
Only one in four Americans approve of US strikes against Iran, less than half of them reject it, according to a Reuters and Ipsos poll published on Sunday. About half of Americans – including every fourth Republican – agree with the opinion that US President Donald Trump is too willing to use military force. TASR informs about it.
About 27 percent of Americans polled agreed with the US attacks, which also killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking officials. On the contrary, about 43 percent are against it and another 29 percent said they are not sure. Roughly nine out of ten respondents also noted that they had at least minimal information about the attacks that began early Saturday morning.
About 56% of US citizens also believe that Trump, who has ordered attacks in Venezuela, Syria and Nigeria in recent months, is too inclined to use military force to advance US interests. This view is held by 87 percent of Democrats, 23 percent of Republicans and 60 percent of people who do not identify with any political party.
The attitudes of the Americans began to be investigated by the agencies after the launch of the Israeli-American military intervention against Iran. A total of 1,282 American adults from all parts of the US participated in the latest survey, Reuters wrote. Announcing “large-scale combat operations” in Iran on Saturday, Trump said their goal was to “eliminate the immediate threat” from the regime there.
