PF calls for the opening of an investigation against the governor of ES for messages with a judge

The Federal Police took a request to the Federal Supreme Court to evaluate the opening of an investigation against the governor of Espírito Santo, Renato Casagrande (PSB).

The basis is conversations found on federal judge Macário Júdice’s cell phone which, according to the corporation, point to possible intermediation in favor of a political ally.

The request was forwarded to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the inquiry that is already investigating the removed president of the Rio Legislative Assembly (Alerj), Rodrigo Bacellar, and former deputy Thiego Raimundo dos Santos, known as TH Joias.

According to the Rio de Janeiro PF, the messages indicate that Casagrande had asked the judge to act in a case involving an allied mayor who was responsible for administrative improbity.

For investigators, the content suggests that the request was fulfilled. Other dialogues between the two were also included in the request sent to the Supreme Court.

In a statement, Casagrande stated that the conversations had an “institutional and republican” character. According to him, the intention was “to speed up the processing of the process to end a legal and political uncertainty in which the municipality found itself at that time in the pre-election period”. The governor added that the messages were exchanged via application and that there was no confidential or illicit content.
