This Monday, Israel expanded its offensive on Tehran with a highly symbolic target: the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation (IRIB), the regime’s state television. The complex, located in the Evin district, north of the capital, was hit by new bombings as part of the military campaign that
According to Iranian media, several parts of the compound suffered direct impacts and in images spread on social networks rising above the area. However, the broadcast was not interrupted and state television continued broadcasting despite the attacks.
For their part, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that its aircraft “attacked and dismantled the regime’s communications center”in reference to the IRIB complex. In its statement, the Israeli Army assured that these facilities had recently been used by Iranian forces to “promote military activities under the guise of civilian activities.”
A strategic and symbolic objective
The attack not only has an operational dimension, but also a political one. Israel maintains that the Revolutionary Guard directed activities from that center linked to Iranian military infrastructure. In addition, it accuses state radio and television of having promoted messages for years that urged the destruction of the State of Israel and the use of nuclear weapons.
The bombing came shortly after the Israeli military publicly announced its intention to attack the complex and urged civilians to immediately leave the area. This prior warning reinforces the Israeli strategy of warning before hitting sensitive urban targets, although it does not eliminate the symbolic impact of attacking a state media center.
Monday’s attacks were not limited to the Evin district. Iranian media also reported shelling in areas of Valiasr Street, one of the main arteries of the city, areas of eastern Tehran and the surroundings of the old Parliament building.
An offensive that does not stop
Since the morning, strategic positions have been coordinated in Iran with the declared objective of destroying arsenals, ballistic missile production infrastructure and weakening the ayatollah regime.
The human balance continues to grow. According to data from the Iranian Red Crescent, More than 555 people have been killed in the Islamic Republic since the start of the offensive. Among them, 180 died in a bombing against a school in the southern town of Minab, one of the most serious episodes to date.
The Iranian response
In parallel, Iran maintains its retaliations. Iranian forces have launched drones and missiles against Israeli territory and against US bases in countries in the region, such as Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Bahrainexpanding the geographical scope of the conflict.
The attack on state television marks a new step in climbing. It is no longer just about traditional military infrastructures, but about hitting the regime’s communication and propaganda centers. A clear message that the offensive targets both warfighting capacity and the political and symbolic core of Iranian power.
The war thus enters a phase in which strategic objectives and State symbols are confused in the same point of view.
