The structure of a viaduct under construction, in Serra Gaúcha (RS), collapsed on Saturday afternoon (28). The work is located on BR-470, between Bento Gonçalves and Veranópolis, and is part of the reconstruction of the highway after the landslides that occurred during the May 2024 flood.
Follow the records made and provided to CNN Brasil:
According to DNIT (National Department of Transport Infrastructure), no one was injured. Two days earlier, on Thursday (26), a twist had occurred in one of the units during the assembly stage.
“A technical incident related to the structural adjustment procedure was recorded,” said the DNIT in a note.
It continues to operate normally.
“The executing company mobilized its technical team and designers for a detailed assessment of the structure. DNIT monitors the situation permanently and awaits the conclusion of the technical analysis to define the necessary measures.”
The federal government’s work, which includes this and a second viaduct, is valued at R$52.3 million. Delivery is expected in the first half of 2026.
