SP Chamber tries to form committees to vote on projects – 03/05/2026 – Panel

After a month of starting work, the city will finally install its seven permanent committees this Thursday (5), and from then on, vote on the most sensitive bills, including those sent by the mayor ().

So far, there has been no activity from the Constitution, Justice and Participatory Legislation (CCJ) committees; Finance and Budget; Urban and Environmental Policies; Public Administration; Traffic and Transport; Education, Culture and Sport; and Health, Work and Women.

To the Panel, the Chamber’s press office says that there was no harm to the Legislative agenda due to the lack of formation of the committees.

The body also claims that there is no “abnormality compared to previous years”, citing as an example that, in 2025, the commissions were installed on March 13th.

“In 2026, the Chamber plenary has already approved 40 bills authored by councilors”, says Câmara. Most of it refers to the creation of commemorative dates, however.

“In addition to the plenary, the Chamber has six CPIs in full operation (maximum number provided for by the regulations), investigating important topics for the city of São Paulo, such as that of HIS, which collected important testimonies this morning [terça]”, says the Chamber’s advisor.
