The Ministry warns Slovaks against the threat: consider the necessity of traveling HERE!

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs (MZVEZ) SR reminds that the second level of travel recommendation still applies for Tunisia, thus consider the necessity of travel. He informs about it on his website.

“Despite the security efforts of the Tunisian authorities the ministry continues to draw attention to security risks related to possible terrorist attacks, including in resorts and places with an increased concentration of tourists,” states the Department of Diplomacy, according to which the security situation in Tunisia is relatively stable, but the risk of security incidents cannot be completely ruled out.

The Ministry does not recommend traveling to the areas near the borders with Libya and Algeria and to the area of ​​the Jebel esh-Shaanbí National Park (Chaambi Mountain). where the security situation is unstable and security operations are underway. He also recommends considering the necessity of travel to the governorates of Kasserine and Le Kef and to the desert areas south of the towns of El Borma and Dehiba. He reminds that in some zones the movement of civilians is restricted or subject to military control.

For safety reasons, he also recommends using the main roads, not traveling after dark and not spending the night outside tourist zones. In connection with the deterioration of the security situation in the Middle East region according to the ministry, airspace may be closed and commercial flights to several countries in the region may be cancelled.

The Slovak Republic does not have an embassy in Tunisia. According to the ministry, the possibilities of consular assistance are thus limited. In urgent cases, it is possible to contact the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tunis or to the embassy of another member state of the European Union.
