Leader of the opposition in the Chamber of Deputies, Cabo Gilberto Silva (PL-PB), said that he will file, next Tuesday, the 10th, a request for impeachment against the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes, after the revelation of private conversations between the magistrate and Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master.
“In view of the very serious information revealed in the last few hours, I inform you that I will be filing a request for impeachment of the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, next Tuesday, in the Federal Senate,” stated Silva.
For the parliamentarian, it is not appropriate for a STF minister to maintain communications with those under investigation, which would raise doubts about Moraes’ partiality.
“Ministers of the Supreme Court must also answer for their actions when there is evidence of violation of the duty of impartiality, the decorum of the office and public trust. The Senate cannot remain silent in the face of facts of this magnitude”, he said. “No one is above the law. Not powerful bankers. Not ministers of the Federal Supreme Court.”
It will be the tenth request for impeachment of a STF minister filed in the Senate this year alone. Moraes has already been the target of one of these requests, based on the revelation by the newspaper O Globo about the existence of a R$129 million contract between Banco Master and the office of lawyer Viviane Barci, Alexandre de Moraes’ wife.
The other eight requests already filed in the period call for the impeachment of Dias Toffoli, also with accusations about the minister’s proximity to Vorcaro’s bank.

According to Brazilian law, impeachment requests from ministers are analyzed by the Senate. It is up to the President of the House, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), to determine whether or not to open the process.
Data extracted from Vorcaro’s cell phone reveals that he reported to Moraes about the bank’s sale negotiations and suggests dialogues regarding the confidential investigation that was being processed in the Federal Court of Brasília.
Other messages show that Vorcaro consulted Moraes about the guest list for a legal forum held in London, in April 2024. The magistrate ordered that businessman Joesley Batista, from J&F, be “blocked” from the event, and Vorcaro took the topic to the organization of the forum.
To maintain secrecy, Vorcaro and Moraes used the single view feature. For this reason, the minister’s responses are not available, but the Master owner’s notes remained accessible in the banker’s cell phone history.
