Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman agreed to coordinate joint measures given the seriousness of the security situation arising from Iran’s attacks against the Kingdom.

“Both discussed the seriousness of the security situation arising from the attacks with Iranian drones and missiles against the Kingdom (of Saudi Arabia) and the joint measures necessary to stop them within the framework of the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement,” the communication office of the Pakistani Army reported this Saturday.

At the meeting, both sides agreed that “unprovoked aggression undermines efforts for regional security and stability, and closes options for a peaceful resolution of disputes.”

Munir’s visit comes after the wave of drones and missiles launched by Tehran against Saudi territory during the first week of the conflict, unleashed after the death of the Iranian supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, in the US and Israeli offensive.

In the Pakistani statement, Islamabad avoided a total break with its western neighbor and assured that both parties expressed the desire that Tehran “exhibit prudence and sagacity to avoid any miscalculation and strengthen the hands of friendly countries seeking a peaceful solution to the crisis.”
