Israel’s main airport resumes international flight takeoffs

Passengers are queuing up and checking in for the first international flights departing from the main airport in Israel since the beginning of the war with the Iran.

Around 2,000 passengers are expected to board 40 scheduled flights at Ben Gurion Airport this Sunday (8), a spokesperson for the airport administration told CNN.

Passengers are checking in their luggage and queuing for security checks at the terminal, devoid of its usual hustle and bustle.

The move follows previous efforts to bring air passengers to Israel, including the first rescue flight by Israeli airline El Al from Athens that landed on Thursday morning.

On Friday (6), the airline announced that it would begin transporting passengers traveling abroad, limited to 70 per flight, from Sunday.
