The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve) promotes, on March 18th, between 2:30 pm and 6 pm, at the David Assoreira Auditorium, in Faro, the first meeting of the Innovation and Collaboration Platform (PIC) dedicated to Tourism.
The initiative aims to bring together entities from the tourism sector, scientific and technological institutions, companies and other agents from the regional innovation ecosystem, with the aim of strengthening the link between knowledge, innovation and business activity, as well as identifying new opportunities for collaboration that contribute to the competitiveness and sustainability of tourism in the Algarve.
The meeting is part of the , and aims to encourage the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for the tourism sector, promoting the link between public policies, research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The opening session will feature speeches by José Apolinário, president of CCDR Algarve, André Gomes, president of the Algarve Tourism Region, Patrícia Pinto, vice-rector of the University of Algarve, and Lurdes Serpa Carvalho, director of the Regional Planning and Development Unit of CCDR Algarve.
The first part of the meeting will be dedicated to the theme “Digital and Green Transformation in Santa Catarina Tourism”. The program includes a presentation on the “State of the Art of Technologies applied to Tourism”, delivered by Joaquim Nascimento, president of Algarve Evolution.
This will be followed by a round table on “Tourism and the Regional Innovation Ecosystem”, with the participation of representatives from entities linked to technology applied to tourism, scientific research, hospitality and the climate transition.
Sustainability and resilience under debate
The second part of the session will address the theme “Paths of Sustainability and Resilience in Tourism”, starting with a communication on “Innovation and Resilience in Tourism”, presented by Hugo Pinto, researcher at CinTurs and professor at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Algarve.
The program also includes a round table dedicated to “Innovation Paths: From Sustainability to the Regeneration of the Algarve Destination”, with interventions from representatives of projects and entities in the areas of responsible and nature tourism, regenerative tourism, nautical tourism and wine tourism.
The initiative will also feature Entrepreneurial Discovery Spaces, designed to promote the active participation of participants, the sharing of projects and challenges and the identification of opportunities for future collaborative actions within the scope of the EREI Regional Platform.
The meeting ends with the presentation of the conclusions by Cristiano Cabrita, vice-president of CCDR Algarve.
